I am interested in your thoughts, when you are being sold a professional service how does the style of the person selling the service attract you to them?
I recently came across a situation where I was looking for some investment advice and the first chap who came to see me was young, aggressive with his sales tactics and he came across like his life depended upon getting the sale rather than focusing on my needs, offering me the professional advice I was looking for… I would actually go as far as to say he came across as arrogant, younger than me and disrespectful.
The second person who came to see me, was in his mid 40’s and clearly knew his products and the knowledge came across in our discussion which ultimately got him my business, it didn’t feel like a sale… He took time to get to know me and understand my needs.
When I have been employed previously, I have always said I am not a Sales Person I am a Professional Insurance Broker who knows her stuff and will win business on the fact that I can offer a solution and not go down the route of a hard sale such as the first example who came to see me.
I believe experience, knowledge and a getting to know & building a relationship is preferred, however, your thoughts please…
