At ARC we often hear: “I’ve been with my Insurance broker for years, they do a good job and I trust them. I consider them friends etc etc”. How often I hear this story!
This week, we have put a new risk on cover with us, not only did said insurance broker not broke the policy for a good few years, the client was paying far too much money and didn’t have enough cover! Safe to say, that relationship with the “trusted friend” broker is over, these are often the most complacent relationships – they know you won’t shop around and become lazy just getting your terms year on year.
I do not understand why every now and then, as a business owner you wouldn’t let a fresh set of eyes look over your cover and premium – it costs nothing!
Make sure your broker is working for you and not the other way round, I only got in through a friend and now he regrets the past ten years of his business decision.
